Still Strolling

I'm continuing to take my daily exercise walks and following all government instructions regarding social distancing. Today's walk was a bit more of a trek as I did the circular walk to Deene Lake. Northerly winds continue to dominate the weather so there has been no arrival of new migrants for quite a while.

Yellowhammer and Black Swan.

One bird still singing away was the Willow Warbler at Weldon though he's a soloist at the moment as it was the only one heard today. Bears Lane had a likely pair of Lapwings on territory which makes it the second one that I've found since lockdown began. Moving on to Deenethorpe airfield and another Lapwing and a Meadow Pipit was songflighting, I saw another at Weldon Industrial Estate.

Brown Hare and Fallow Deer.

Deene Lake inflow held three Green Sandpipers and a good number of Teal, the main lake had a pair of Shelduck and an Egyptian Goose while a Raven flew past. Not too much else from a bird point of view though I saw three Brown Hares during my amble and a decent sized herd of Fallow Deer. Hoping that the southerly winds forecast for the weekend delivers a few more migrants and that the rising temperatures brings out a few more butterflies.
