November and Nothing Special to Report

A typically November day with grey skies holding sway for much of the day. While there was a little light drizzle to contend with it was at least in the main dry for most of my walk.

Priors Hall views.

I opted to spend my time at Priors Hall where there was little of interest on view. Highlight was a first Woodcock of the winter which was flushed from alders near to one of the ponds. Good numbers of Siskins continue to be a feature and I also heard at least one Redpoll too. A large flock of Redwings were feeding on some of the still abundant crop  of Haws while at least two Fieldfares were present as well.

Buzzard, Red Kite and gulls.

Red Kites and at least one Buzzard were patrolling the skies but they were the only raptors. The quarry lake held examples of the five commoner gulls but little else apart from seven Teal, two had been flushed from one of the ponds earlier in the day.

Boletus type fungus.

One Brown Hare was the only mammal of note while the sunless conditions meant no late insect activity was recorded. Good numbers of a Boletus type toadstool were found but in truth it was not a day to remember.

Siai Marchetti 260.
