Lancashire Hotchpotch.

Some family business took me up to St Helens for a couple of nights and although it was not a wildlife watching trip I did do some exploring. Our hotel was next to Carr Mill Dam an artificial lake and one of the largest fresh water bodies in the area. While it is quite good for birds in winter in July, like with so many other sites, appears to be a quiet time. I've included a few pictures of some of the birds and other wildlife on view.
Carr Mill Dam

Young Coot.
Grey Heron

Great Crested Grebe, one of the commonest species.
Common Blue Damsels, one of only two species present.
